1st Bangor extended their unbeaten run to 6 games with a battling 4-3 win in tough conditions at the Drome to send them into the hat for the Irish Cup third round draw.
With the strong wind always likely to make the match a game of 2 halves, it proved to be exactly that and it was the strong wind that led to the mistake for the first goal. A long innocuous ball through was headed up to the wind the Strabane centre-half to perfectly lob his own keeper and put 1st Bangor 1-0 up. If the first was a fluke, the 2nd was anything but, George Chelariu delivering the perfect cross into the box for Chris Scott to prod home on the volley.
Strabane continued to threaten on the break and 1st Bangor's high line was eventually their undoing with Strabane's striker beating the off side trap and racing through to round keeper Rob Brown and slot home from a tight angle.
But with the wind on their backs 1st Bangor continued to pile on the pressure and this eventually told when Matty Pollard's long throw was flicked on by Scott to be fired home by Aaron Caldwell, giving Bangor a 3-1 win to take into the half time break.
In the second half it was Strabane now with the wind who started to create the chances but it was a debatable penalty decision that led to Strabane's 2nd goal. Rob Brown being judged to have brought down the Strabane player just inside the box and Strabane scoring from the spot.
And it wasn't long before the scores were level, Strabane scoring a carbon copy of their first goal, beating the offside trap, rounding Rob Brown and slotting home.
But 1st Bangor weren't to be denied the win and with time running out Chris Scott played a neat one-two with Stephen McCormick on the edge of the box before firing past the Strabane keeper into the corner to give 1st Bangor the win.
