A decent start to the season for 1st Bangor who showed a lot of
character to come back twice to secure a 2-2 draw with the Swifts
despite having half a team out with injuries. The injury situation went
from bad to worse after Mark Liddell and Davey Morrow were both
withdrawn with knocks after just 15 minutes. However, 1st Bangor showed
the strength in depth of the squad this year by creating the best
chances during the match with every player coming into the team
After a defensive mix up gifted the Swifts the first goal, 1st Bangor equalised in style, Chris Scott knocking down a long throw to Colin Moore who struck a cracking shot into the top corner from the edge of the box to make it 1-1 going into the break.
In the second half the game started to open up with Aaron Caldwell particularly impressive in the centre of midfield for 1st Bangor. However, despite having the majority of possession and looking comfortable at the back with Corkie soaking up everything in the air, 1st Bangor went behind again to a well worked Swifts goal.
But 1st Bangor again came from behind with Scotty taking the ball down in the box and finding Steven Cairnduff well placed at the back post to slot home and continue his great goalscoring form.
2-2 was a fair result overall for what was a open and fairly contested match. 1st Bangor will be hoping to further improve with players due back from injury.
